There are countless people with desk jobs. Such a job often means sitting behind a desk all day with very little movement. Then, after a long workday, you get into your car or on the train, only to collapse onto the couch at home. Not exactly great for your body… That’s why it’s important to look for ways to move more throughout your day.
The habit of “sitting still” can be broken easily — no need for huffing and puffing at the gym. All you really need is a clock. You might be thinking, “What do I need a clock for?” Simple: a clock helps remind you to stand up every 30 minutes and maybe take a short walk to interrupt the sitting. Use the opportunity to grab a glass of water or a healthy snack from the kitchen. Getting a phone call? Don’t stay seated — stand up and walk around while you talk. That’s all it takes to break the negative sitting cycle.
So… is your timer set already?
