Autumn is coming, which means warm cups of tea are becoming popular again!
The best types to drink are green or black tea: these varieties lower your blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke. From just 3 cups a day, a measurable health benefit can already be observed. Other types of tea like rooibos, ginger, or mint tea don’t have this effect, as they are not actually made from the real tea plant. However, all types of tea are healthy and contribute to your daily fluid intake.
You’ll find tea in all kinds of flavors and types at the supermarket. Now that you might be craving a warm cup of tea more often, it can also be fun to create your own blend. Making tea yourself is actually very easy! Boil some water and add various ingredients.
• Soft and warming tea: ginger, lemon, and thyme
• Fresh tea: mint and optionally ginger
• A real autumn tea: dried star anise, a slice of orange, and ginger (also delicious with a cinnamon stick or cardamom)
You can endlessly vary with herbs and fruits. Also tasty in tea: a teaspoon of pumpkin spice, honey, clove, black pepper, and fresh turmeric (grated or in slices).
Enjoy!
