Anxiety and depression can be treated with yoga. This was shown in a study involving 65 women with various forms of depression and anxiety. For this study, the participants were divided into two groups. 34 women took part in a 90-minute yoga session twice a week for two months. The other 31 women were placed on a waiting list and served as the control group.
Through this study, the researchers demonstrated that women who practiced yoga regularly experienced a reduction in symptoms of anxiety and depression.
The researchers used a modern form of yoga designed to promote deep relaxation through calming breathing exercises.
According to the researchers, these results show that yoga is not only beneficial for relaxation but can also be a useful therapeutic treatment for anxiety disorders.
